» Feature Writer Lori Henry - Laptops

I will be buying a laptop soon and am lost when it comes to choosing. Is there any brands to stay away from? I use my computer for emailing, internet and writing while I'm travelling (and at home, of course). Any advice?

My top choice for a laptop is Sony Vaio. Sony uses top products and is moderately priced. The weight of the laptop isn't too heavy and easy to move around with it. It looks attractive and comes with a year limited warranty.

If you would like to get something cheaper, I would probably go for a gateway. It has most of the same features as Sony but just not as attractive and maybe a touch heavier.

I would stay away as far as possible from Dell. I have worked there and the items Dell uses are all sub standard.
