Millions of PCs get manufactured everyday. A fraction of those manufactured get discarded by users on a regular basis. Where to dump them?

The question of safely disposing a PC has not been on the minds of many PC users. People are always bothered about getting new PCs and discarding the old ones. No one even thinks about where the millions of old PCs end up. For a commoner, it might end up in a dumpster but there is a lot more to PC disposal than a mere dumpster.

There are reports that the PC market sales are going down but on the flip side, the market for disposing PCs seem to be on a rise.

Newmarket IT is a firm that specializes in PC disposal. The company has received $50 million dollars in private equity funding to help expand its PC recycling and refurbishing business. It's major clients are Dell and HP which finds homes in many businesses. Businesses usually discard PCs on a regular basis to bring in the new equipment.

To safely dispose a PC, the information on the hard disk should be completely wiped out from the hard drive. A simple delete and empty recycle bin wouldn't do the trick. Even a format leaves traces of data on the hard drive. This is where Newmarket IT cashes in. They securely wipe the entire hard drive and other storage devices as a part of their refurbishing process. Jeff Ziegler, founder and CEO of the company says that 40 percent of the company's business revolves around stripping a PC into spare parts and selling them.

This business started by Jeff Ziegler will spread to other companies in a short span of time as this is a money generating market. Before you throw away your computer, remember if you have completely wiped your hard disk or not. There might be miscreants who could use your data for their advantage.
