Windows is not perfect by any means. Windows is bound to give you problems from time to time. Here is a basic troubleshooting step that works 90% of the time.
Maybe these are some of the problems you are facing: 1. Computer hangs as soon as it boots to desktop. 2. You get an error dialog when computer boots up. 3. Certain programs don't work. 4. Conflicts with programs This list is not comprehensive but any problems on the same lines fall into the category of troubleshooting that will be discussed. The following troubleshooting step isn't a final fix. It helps you narrow down the issue to a few programs. If the issue is fixed after following the troubleshooting step, its good to know that Windows OS is not the problem. Without much delay, here is the troubleshooting step. 1. Click on start 2. Click on run 3. Type "msconfig" 4. Click on startup 5. Click on disable all 6. Click on Services 7. Click on Hide all Microsoft Services 8. Uncheck all the services listed 9. Click on OK 10. Restart computer Once the computer restarts, your computer is running just the Windows OS and not any of the programs that were installed. You might feel that your computer is faster. If your computer works good after this step, remember that your Windows installation is good and the problem lies with one of the programs that were installed. Also, remember that the items unchecked in msconfig are not needed for your basic Windows operation. This step is something that has helped me over and over again. Suite101 is not responsible for any losses that might accidentally incur following these steps.
