Ive included some screen shots to make it a little easier to understand.

Ad-Aware is a very useful tool for removing malware. In fact it's so useful that some malware will do its best to keep this program from running or even letting you get to the website to

download it.

Like most well built pieces of software, during the install you can simply continue to hit next until it installs itself. The defaults are just fine for most installations. After installation you may see this:

FIGURE 1

If so, just choose OK. At work I'm behind a firewall and can't get the downloads the easy way. If you run into this problem you can download the updates separately. For Ad-Aware you will need to download a file called def.ref to your computer. Simply save this file to C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal.

You will get a message asking if you want to replace the existing def.ref with the new file named def.ref.

Just say OK. Now you can run Ad-Aware. You will be on this screen:

Choose Start. On the next screen choose "Perfom full system scan" and hit Next(see Fig 4).

FIGURE 3

At this point the scan begins. You will know its done when the red exclamation point at the bottom of the screen, or, if you have the sound up, you will hear a loud sound letting you know that the scan is done.

At the top right hand corner (see fig 4)you will see a "Objects Scanned", this shows the total number of objects that were scanned by Ad-Aware. The Summary will give you an idea of how bad the things are that were scanned. In the box on the right,

the higher up on the "Identified" list you are the worse it is.

FIGURE 4

Click Next. If you have alot of objects to remove then right click inside one of the check boxes and choose "Select All Objects" (see Fig 5).

FIGURE 5

You will then be asked if you want to Continue to remove the items. Choose OK. This will bring you back to the Start screen.

You can exit out of the program now.
