How to get your system running better

Ever wonder why your computer is running slower than it used to? Well, there could be all kinds of reasons for it. Here are a few things you can do to get it running

Here are some things you can do to get your system running a little bit better, or maybe a whole lot faster.

  • Delete temporary files from your hard drive.Temporary files are usually the files left over after installing a program and can be safely deleted. To learn more about how to delete them, check out this article.
  • Run a thorough scan disk.Scan disk will check your harddrive to make sure that there arent any physical problems with the drive. It can sometimes repair them as well.
  • Clean your internet browser cache.Consisting mostly of images that your browser had to download in order to display on a web page you are viewing. Check out this article on how to clear your internet browser cache.
  • Perform a virus scan.Make sure your Virus definitions are up to date. Viruses can cause major slow downs in your system by using the CPU to its maximum capacity.
  • Check your system for spyware/adware.Websites can install spyware/adware. These things can hijack your computers browser and cause things to run very slow. For a complete explanation of how to use spyware removal tools check out this article.
  • Defrag the files on your hard drive.Defrag arranges the files on your hard drive so that they can be accessed more efficiently allowing your hard drive to handle the flow of data more efficiently. To learn how to do this check out this article.
  • Clean the dust out of your computer.As crazy as it sounds dust can really cause a problem. To much dust on your heat sinks can allow heat to build up, dust can also clog fans as well. Get rid of dust as much as you can. Be careful when vacuuming however, dont bump into things as that can cause damage.
